Re-mergence
Studio Soto
Boston, MA 2009

The installation searches through a series of figurative sculptures that act as maps touching on a range of themes and issues: personal and cultural identity, loss and memory, motherhood and family, sexuality and love.

The pieces  appears as in a labyrinth of truncated paths between the place where I was born and all the place and countries related to me.

This piece is a continuation of my work "Walking with memories".

Bolsitas de papel/Paper bags

Iím working in this project fascinated by the way you see a paper bag and all the questions that come to your mind when you perceive themÖWho it belongs to?...What is inside?...is part of ourselves, of our quotidian life of our baggage of living in this fast throw away societyÖ

Iím carving them in stone because Iím attracted to the duality of things, the fragility convine with the strong presence of the paper bag has in the society

Walking with Memories

Is a series of work that deal with issues of who I am, where I come from, motherhood, lost love, family and being alone.

I grew up in Argentina, lived in Brazil, Italy and Spain before I came to The United States. I feel I keep carrying my luggage or baggage all the time.

You can see more of this series in the Sculpturefest 2007 and in The Sculpture Symposium page under the International Sculpture Symposium NWSSA, 2008 in WA with the piece "Baggage" and in China with the piece "the visitor".
